Illustrations

Images marked "AI-generated illustration" were produced with an image-generation model for generic subjects — a well room, a septic lid, a generator, a market tent. They depict no real place, person or business in Manotick or anywhere else, and every one carries that label in its caption. No AI image is used to represent a real Manotick or Greely business or location. The seven Greely pages are illustrated this way because no freely licensed photographs of Greely exist on Wikimedia Commons.

Map

The directory map uses Leaflet (© Volodymyr Agafonkin, BSD-2-Clause licence) served from this site, with map tiles from OpenStreetMap — © OpenStreetMap contributors, Open Database Licence (ODbL). Pin coordinates were geocoded from each business's street address with OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service and are therefore derived from OpenStreetMap data; that coordinate file (biz.json, served with the map) is available under the ODbL. Pins are placed from the street address and can be a building or two out; the "Map" button on each listing opens the address in Google Maps.

Type

Text is set in Zilla Slab, Source Sans 3 and IBM Plex Mono, all under the SIL Open Font Licence, served from this site.

Data

Business names, addresses and phone numbers are as published by each business. Price ranges are the site's own planning estimates from published sources, described on the methodology page. Historical facts cite their sources on the page where they appear. Search-demand figures quoted anywhere on the site are from Ahrefs.

Common questions

Can I reuse a photo from manotick.co?

The Wikimedia Commons photographs, yes, under the Creative Commons licence stated in the caption — credit the photographer, link the licence, and share alike where the licence says so. Our own text, tables and AI illustrations are not licensed for reuse without permission.

Where do the map pins come from?

Each business's street address was geocoded with OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service, so the coordinates are derived from OpenStreetMap data and are available under the ODbL.
