Hair, nails and skin care in Manotick

Nearly everything on this page has premises inside K4M, which is unusual — this is one category where the village genuinely serves itself. Two things are worth flagging before the lists. First, on massage: only a Registered Massage Therapist can give you a receipt an extended health plan will reimburse, and you can verify any therapist on the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario's public register. Second, on injectables and laser: in Ontario these must be prescribed or delegated by a physician or nurse practitioner, and not one clinic in the village names its medical director on its website. That is not an accusation — it is a gap, and it means the question is yours to ask.

Medspas, injectables and laser — the question to ask

Four places in the village advertise medical-aesthetic treatments: NV Derma Medical at 5558 Manotick Main Street (343-543-2842), which lists injectables, laser hair removal, CO₂ laser, PRP, peels and sclerotherapy; Skin Spa Medical Esthetics at 5494 Manotick Main Street (613-695-2790); Manotick Health & Wellness at 1130 Mill Street (613-627-3035), which lists cosmetic and therapeutic injections, IV therapy and microneedling alongside naturopathic and chiropractic care; and Peppermint Organic Spa at 1131 Mill Street, whose medi-spa side covers laser hair removal, pigmentation and rosacea treatment, microneedling and electrolysis.

In Ontario, cosmetic injectables must be prescribed or delegated by a physician or a nurse practitioner. None of these clinics names a physician or nurse practitioner on its website. Again — that is a documentation gap rather than evidence of anything, and the fix is a single question when you book: who is performing this, what is their college registration, and who is the delegating physician or NP? A good clinic will answer without hesitating. Ask it wherever you go, not just here.

Massage — and which kind you are booking

This is the distinction that decides whether your receipt is worth anything. A Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and only an RMT's receipt is reimbursable by extended health plans. "Massage" at a spa may or may not be delivered by one. You can check any therapist on the CMTO's public register in about thirty seconds, and it is worth doing before a course of treatment rather than after.

Common questions

Is there a hair salon in Manotick?

Several. Ashley's Hair Design at 5562 Manotick Main Street, Serenity Hair Studio at 1160 Beaverwood Road and Allure Hair Design & Medi Spa at 1145 Mill Street are the independents, and First Choice Hair Cutters at 5511 Manotick Main Street is the one national franchise. For barbers, Nick's Barber Shop at 1142 Tighe Street has been father-and-son run since 1986, and Manotick Barbershop is at 5545 Manotick Main Street.

Where can I get a manicure or pedicure in Manotick?

Peppermint Organic Spa at 1131 Mill Street, 613-692-0918, has a full manicure and pedicure menu alongside facials and waxing. Meraki Beauty Lounge at 1160 Beaverwood Road, Unit 4, 613-692-5777, and Spa Nails at 5511 Manotick Main Street also do nails and esthetics. Most work by appointment rather than walk-in.

What should I ask before getting Botox or laser treatment?

Ask who is performing the treatment, what their college registration is, and who the delegating physician or nurse practitioner is. In Ontario, cosmetic injectables must be prescribed or delegated by a physician or an NP. None of the clinics advertising injectables or laser in Manotick names a physician or nurse practitioner on its website, so the question is yours to ask — and a clinic worth going to will answer it straight away.

What is the difference between an RMT and a spa massage?

A Registered Massage Therapist is regulated by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and only an RMT's receipt will be reimbursed by an extended health plan. A relaxation massage at a spa may or may not be delivered by an RMT, and several Manotick clinics do not state it either way on their websites. If you are claiming it on insurance, ask when you book and verify the therapist on the CMTO's free public register.

Is there a spa in Manotick?

Peppermint Organic Spa at 1131 Mill Street, 613-692-0918, is the main one, covering massage, facials, manicures and pedicures, waxing and a medi-spa side using the Eminence Organics line. Gina's Sugar Shack at 5548 Manotick Main Street is an organic skin care and sugaring boutique, and Meraki Beauty Lounge at 1160 Beaverwood Road does nails and esthetics. All work by appointment.
