Shops and services in Greely

Shopping in Greely means one plaza, one old-village corner and a Sunday market. This page lists every shop and everyday service with a Greely address — grocery, pharmacy, dollar store, pet store, post office, salons, child care, the landscape yards — with phones and the hours each publishes, and then says plainly what the village does not have and where the nearest one is. Nothing here is paid for.

Greely Village Centre — the plaza at Bank and Parkway

Nearly everything you buy in Greely is bought at 6045 Bank Street, the Sunset Lakes Developments plaza at the corner of Parkway Road, opened in stages and now the village's main street in all but name. Foodland is the anchor — a full grocery with a butcher counter, bakery, deli and produce — and it houses the LCBO Convenience Outlet (there is no standalone LCBO or Beer Store in the village) and the BMO cash machine that is Greely's only bank presence. Around it: Dollarama, Pet Valu, the pharmacy, the cannabis store and the four food counters listed on the restaurants page. Upstairs and in the two office buildings on Village Centre Place are the clinic, the dentists, the optometrist and the physio, on the medical page. The plaza has its own small park with tennis courts and a pond path behind it.

The old village core — Meadow Drive and Parkway Road

Before the plaza, the village shopped on Meadow Drive, and a few things still are there. The small plaza at 1341 Meadow Drive has Greely Hot Pizzeria, the family pizzeria that has fed the village since 1991, and the Greely Convenience Store, which besides snacks and lottery keeps a 24-hour community food cupboard out front, set up with the community association — take what you need, leave what you can. Food Express at 1319 Meadow is the takeout counter. The post office is on Parkway Road, and so is the veterinarian. Note that Foodland's old Meadow Drive store, and the LCBO agency that was in it, closed when the plaza opened; older listings still send people there.

Hair, barbers and beauty

Greely has one storefront salon and one barber plus several appointment-only home salons, which is typical of an estate-lot village where the commercial space is a single plaza. Thee Cutting Shoppe on Ellsworth Lane is the long-established salon; the Greely Barber Shop on Philnor Street in the old core is open seven days by its listing; Greely Hair Salon in Shadow Ridge specialises in braids, locs and African hair and takes appointments only. Manotick's salons are ten minutes away — the hair and beauty page lists them.

Fitness, kids and pets

There is no commercial gym, yoga studio or martial-arts school with a Greely address; the nearest are in Manotick (gyms and fitness). What Greely has is two small studios — Shape Up, a private personal-training gym run by a certified trainer with a nursing background, and JL Core Energy Studio, a home studio in Greely Country Estates running core and mobility classes — and the public swim lessons at the Greely Indoor Pool. For child care, Greely First Steps Daycare on Bank Street just south of the village is the licensed centre, and Rural Family Connections in Metcalfe places families with licensed home providers across Greely and the villages. For dogs: Pet Valu in the plaza for supplies, Beds for Tails on Bank Street for boarding, daycare and grooming — the only groomer in the village — and the vet on Parkway Road, all on the medical page.

Garden, landscape supply and the yard everyone knows

Greely Sand & Gravel is the village's landmark business — a family company founded in 1982 whose Old Prescott Road pit and South-East Landscape Depot sell topsoil, mulch, sand, gravel and decorative stone by the bag, bin or truckload, weekdays 7 to 5, and whose reclaimed pits are, by local account, several of the village's lakes. Osgoode Sand & Gravel, also on Old Prescott, is the other pit. Concrete Garden Supply on Manotick Station Road sells precast concrete garden pieces and landscape supplies. There is no consumer garden centre in Greely: Greenlife Wholesale Nursery on Manotick Station Road is trade-only, so do not drive there for a flat of annuals. The Sunday market

The Greely Good Market at 5770 Bank Street is the village market: every Sunday 10 am to 3 pm from early May into the fall, with coffee and food vendors, bread, produce, flowers, vintage clothing and local makers, in a field with two parking lots off Bank Street and portable washrooms.
