Corrections
This site publishes addresses, phone numbers and prices for real businesses in a village of a few thousand people, and the honest failure rate of that work is not zero. This page is the log: every substantive fix, dated, with what was wrong. It exists because a site that hides its corrections is asking to be trusted on faith, and this one would rather be trusted on record. Spot an error? Email hello@manotick.co or use the contact form — corrections are the fastest email we answer, and fixes ship within a day.
The log, newest first
22 Aug 2026 — Generator sizing advice rewritten. The standby-generator page repeated the common claim that a well pump draws a fixed multiple of its running wattage at start-up. Published motor data doesn't support a fixed multiplier — two pumps of the same horsepower can differ by more than double — so the advice now says to size from the pump's own data plate, and says why.
22 Aug 2026 — Prices reconciled against the rate tables. Nine service pages quoted a figure in their text that disagreed with the rate table on the same page — the septic page's own FAQ disagreed with its own table. All prose now quotes the tables exactly, and the build fails if a page ever quotes a price its table doesn't carry.
21 Aug 2026 — Ash tree permits, corrected in our favourite direction: we were wrong. We published that removing ash trees requires a permit under the City's Tree Protection By-law. The City's own guidance says removal of dead, hazardous or ash trees does not require a permit application. Fixed and sourced.
20 Aug 2026 — Starbucks status. Older pages across the web still describe the Manotick Starbucks as proposed but not approved — true in 2023, out of date since the store opened in May 2025 at 5650 Manotick Main Street. Our pages state it plainly and cite the store.
20 Aug 2026 — Five listings removed in pre-launch verification. Before launch, every listing was re-checked. Two junk-removal listings, one tree service, one pump service and one electrical listing were removed: businesses we could not confirm exist, domains that no longer resolve, or directory entries with conflicting phone numbers. The rule since: if it can't be verified, it isn't listed.
How verification works here
Every rate table on the site carries a stamp. UNVERIFIED means the ranges are drafted from published figures and have not yet been confirmed against local quotes — every table said so from the day the site launched, in the table header, where it can't be missed. As each trade is confirmed by phone against providers actually working K4M, its table gets a dated verification stamp. No table will ever pretend to a confidence it doesn't have. The same rule covers listings: a business appears with the address and phone number we verified, a note saying where it is actually based, and nothing invented to fill space.
Common questions
How do I report an error on manotick.co?
Email hello@manotick.co or use the contact form and pick "A correction". It is the fastest email we answer: fixes ship within a day and get logged on this page with the date and what was wrong.
Why publish corrections at all?
Because the alternative is pretending to be right all the time, and nobody checking real addresses, phone numbers and prices for a whole village is right all the time. A visible log of fixes is the strongest evidence we can offer that the rest of the site is maintained.
