About this site
Manotick.co is run by a local family in the area. Price ranges are drafted from published figures and are being verified against local quotes; no table carries a checked stamp until it has been.
The rate ledgers on service pages are typical ranges gathered from local quotes and provider conversations — a map for budgeting, not a binding price. Featured providers are local businesses that hold a single sponsored placement per category; calls and quote requests from those pages go directly to them. That sponsorship is how the site is funded, and it's the whole of the arrangement: one provider per category, clearly labelled.
Why build this? Because most of Manotick runs on infrastructure that city directories ignore — wells, septic systems, propane, long driveways — and finding providers who genuinely cover K4M, at prices that reflect estate-lot scale, took the kind of local knowledge that used to live only in neighbours' recommendations. This site writes that knowledge down and keeps it current.
Who runs it
Ger McNamee — a Manotick-area resident who also runs RadonTest.ca. This site started as the list of tradespeople who actually answer the phone out here, kept because the same questions came up every time a neighbour moved in. Rate ledgers are gathered by phone from providers working in the area and stamped with the date they were last confirmed. A table without that stamp has not been verified yet, and says so — which is currently every table on the site.
How it makes money, in full
One business per category can sponsor the featured placement on that category's page, for a flat monthly fee. That is the entire business model: no per-lead billing, no commission on work booked, no paid rankings, and no advertising from anyone else. Sponsored placements are labelled as such on every page they appear. Nothing else on this site — the rate ledgers, the guides, the recommendations in the village pages — is paid for or influenced by a sponsor. If that ever changes, this paragraph changes with it.
