Community, parks, schools and events in Greely

The civic side of Greely, Ontario, on one page: the community centre, library and police centre on Meadow Drive, the fire hall, the parks and the skatepark, the rink, the trail, the indoor pool and the golf course, the Legion, every school and church with an address and a phone, the year's events with dates, and who to call at the City. Nothing here is paid for.

The community centre, the library and the police centre

One building at 1448 Meadow Drive, opened in March 2011, holds the three civic things the village has: the Greely Community Centre (Hall A for 50 with a kitchen; Hall B for 120 with a stage, a kitchen and an alcohol permit available; booked through the City at 311), the Ottawa Public Library Greely branch — a 3,500-square-foot branch with holds pickup from the whole OPL collection, public internet, a Friends of the Library used-book shop and battery recycling, whose roots go back to a residents' library in 1976 — and the Greely Community Police Centre, an unstaffed contact point rather than a station (the nearest staffed one is Leitrim on Bank Street). The park beside it, Andy Shields Park, has the play structures, basketball court and fields where Canada Day is held, and a fenced off-leash dog area was approved after the 2023 consultation and is awaiting tender.

Parks, the rink, the trail and the pool

Greely Village Park at 7292 Parkway Road, built in 2015, is the big one: a full-size soccer field, a concrete street-style skatepark with a BMX dirt track, tennis courts that double for pickleball, a basketball court, two playgrounds, walking trails, and a community-flooded outdoor rink in winter. Andy Shields Park on Old Prescott Road beside the community centre has courts, fields and playgrounds. Greely West Park on the Manotick Station Road side has the toboggan hill and a volunteer rink. The Sunset Lakes, Woodstream and Water's Edge communities have their own lakes, beaches, trails and rinks, but those are resident-only. The Osgoode Link Pathway, the 18-km gravel rail trail from Leitrim to Osgoode, runs along the west of the village and takes bikes, horses, skis and snowmobiles. The Greely Indoor Pool is a private, heated, public-access pool inside Ottawa's Poplar Grove Campground on Bank Street — swim lessons, aquafit and open swim, paid — and not a City pool; the City's nearest are in the south end. Emerald Links is the public 27-hole golf course on the east side of the village.

The year in Greely — events

The village calendar is short and well attended. The Greely Winter Carnival, run by the community association since 1972, fills four days in late January or early February at the community centre: a sledding hill, outdoor skating, horse-drawn sleigh rides, a BeaverTails stand, the Station 93 firefighters' pancake breakfast, bingo, a comedy night and the spaghetti dinner that raises money for the 742 Air Cadets. Canada Day in Greely runs noon to 10 pm at Andy Shields Park — kids' zone, bicycle-decorating contest, vintage cars, a BBQ, a beer garden with live music, and fireworks at 10. The Greely Good Market is every Sunday from May, with a holiday night market in late November or December. The Legion runs euchre tournaments, live bands and an annual car and truck show in late summer (2026's, rained out in August, was moved to 27 September), and holds the village Remembrance Day. Manotick's calendar, ten minutes west, is on the events page.

Who runs the village

The Greely Community Association (greelycommunity.ca) is the volunteer body: it runs the carnival and Canada Day, publishes a newsletter and a new-resident guide, keeps the community food cupboard stocked at the convenience store on Meadow Drive, and is the voice of the village at City Hall. Its president from 2022 to 2025, Isabelle Skalski, is now the Osgoode Ward councillor, elected in the June 2025 by-election after George Darouze left for Queen's Park; the ward office is the route for park, road and by-law issues, and 311 is the route for service requests. Federally and provincially Greely is in Carleton. The Manotick Messenger covers Greely under its own tag and is the nearest thing to a local paper.

manotick.co is a directory, not a party to any work or visit. Every number goes straight to the business; hours, prices and whether they are taking new customers change, so phone before you drive. Nothing on this page is paid for, and a listing is not an endorsement — what a listing means. Wrong or out of date? hello@manotick.co.

The golf club. Emerald Links at 6357 Emerald Links Drive is 27 holes — eighteen from 1990 and a third nine from 2002 — owned by the Patterson family, who also hold Anderson Links and Cloverdale. The estate subdivision either side of it is covered under Emerald Links and the estate lots.
